Mowed the lawn

Today I mowed the lawn.  Well,  life as a stage hypnotist can't always be thrilling...

Fireworks!!!

Canada Day means Fireworks!!! And,  when you're a licensed pyro guy it means the chance to blow stiff up!!!  (Yep,  I'm not just a stage hypnotist...) I love it.  Show took 8 hours to setup,  12 mins to fire!  Next year I'd like to fire it in 8... Happy Canada Day Truro!!!

Cobequid Educational Centre

Last night I went to Cobequid Educational Centre's Safe Grad and did a show for the 2014 graduates.  Show was at midnight in the new Rath Eastlink Community Centre. The show was on the ice surface,  but the ice is out for the summer.  A great stage was put up and the grads were a lot of fun. This show is very special to me,  as I graduated from this school and I'm still friends with many of the staff.  My career as a stage hypnotist started as a result of my time at this school.

Sobeys

Today I was at Pictou Lodge for a corporate show for Sobey's head office. A great group.  I did my magic/juggling show for them and they especially enjoyed when I pounded the nail into my face (but who wouldn't???). It reminded me of the last time I visited Pictou Lodge.  I did a hypnosis show for a group of paramedics.  The thing that stood out about the show was that while I hypnotized the volunteers the staff was clearing the tables.  One of the people that worked there actually got hypnotized while cleaning a table! The entire staff stopped working and came out to watch the show.  Memories like these are why I enjoy being a hypnotist so much!

Riverview High Safe Grad

I've been so busy performing at safe grads lately that I forgot to mention Riverview High.  Another of my favourite schools.  I've performed there a whopping 18 times!  A beautiful theatre. The reason I mention this one in particular is because every year I get there early and indulge in one of my guilty pleasures:  playing on the inflatable games!!! I still have a scar on my elbow from last year when I slid down the slide a bit roughly. The life of a top stage hypnotist can't be all serious!  Wait,  something about that statement doesnt sound right...

Moncton High School

Tonight I performed at Moncton High School as part of the safe grad. It was my 11th year performing at this event.  The show was a blast,  and I was lucky to have 2 of my closest friends who live in Moncton stop in to see the show.  But perhaps the most interesting part of this event was that it was the last year for the school in it's existing building. The school is the oldest school in New Brunswick,  and a Heritage Property.  The theatre is beautiful.  You can get a look at http://www.photovision360.ca/galleries/360/360_01/gallery360_03.htm . As the school is closing at the end of the year,  which is tomorrow, it appears my stage hypnotism show is the last show that will grace the beautiful stage. The building is for sale,  maybe someone will buy it and the theatre will be used…

I entered Google+ land

I don't really understand it,  but I signed up for Google+. Not completely sure how it works or what it's purpose is,  but I'm there.  If you're there too may as well join me at https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/100590428873787382733/+IanstewartInfo1/posts   Well I think that's the address anyway.  Again,  I don't really understand how it works...

Safe Grads

Here I go!  One of my favourite times of the year.  In my part of the world it's very popular to have an alcohol and drug free party following the prom in an effort to combat drinking/drug related deaths that sadly became common after graduation in the 80's. This year I have 24 of them booked.  Most are between the hours of midnight and 6am.  Some nights I'll be doing shows at 4 am,  packing up and driving 4 hours home.  It's a good thing I'm naturally a night owl. As sleep deprived as I'll be I love seeing all these graduates!

Building a prop

I spent part of the last few days building a mean looking set of gallows for a new trick.  It looks so menacing! Stands close to 10 feet tall.  The trick has me putting my head in a noose and having it attached to the gallows.  But if all goes right I don't hang.  I won't perform this often,  but when I do it will be spectacular!

Crossbow Stunt

For several years I've wanted to perform a stunt I call the Multiple Crossbow Stunt.  Some people call it the Crossbows of Death".  Very few people do it.  2 do it in North America,  and there are 2 or 3 in Europe. I've been working on it for a very long time.  It's crazy dangerous,  but at the same time a very cool trick. Me and my friend Jeff Babineau took some time today to make the video.  I love how it turned out.  Check out Jeff's other work at www.babineauphotography.com
