Breaking a world record

I'm so excited to be allowed to say I'm going to attempt to break the world record for juggling one chainsaw and 2 balls at the 31st Annual Halifax Outdoor Sport and RV Show.   The record guidelines were sent to me by Guinness and I'll be attempting to break the record on Saturday, March 8th.  The current record is 117 throws and catches.  I'm aiming for 150.  Let's see how it goes!

New world record coming…

Today I registered to break a new world record.   I can't say much more yet,  but I'm excited!   My previous world record, recognized by Guinness World Records, is for me juggling 3 running chainsaws longer than anyone has ever done it.  www.chainsawjuggling.com has the info.   I'm so excited to try for a second one!

Prince Edward Island

Today I performed in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.   As I was driving across the bridge that connects the Island to the mainland (the largest bridge of it's kind in the world), I started wondering how many times I'd travelled to PEI for shows.   I checked my income tax records and in one year alone I had 26 receipts for the bridge toll that were from shows.   In total I found 116 receipts from the last 10 years.  I know there's many more and I didn't look long.   Thank you to everyone in PEI who has supported my show for this long!

Another Snow Storm

I found myself performing a hypnosis show in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia today.   For people not familiar with the area,  this place is remote.  It's a long way out there.  The people are great and I love going, but it's a long way out there.   And today we had a storm.  I don't shy away from traveling when the weather is bad, in fact I often enjoy it.  It took me 7 hours to drive there when it typically takes 4.  But when I arrived it was worth it, a huge audience showed up (to the surprise of all...) and I had a great time.   This was my 10th year hypnotizing people at this event, and I can't wait to be back next year!

Busy week

This week I had 9 shows.  This included over 25 hours of driving, 12 hours onstage, and 15 hours of setup and tear down of the shows.  I performed for over 2500 people and hypnotized over 150 of them.  All in 5 days.   Yep,  5 days.  Now I have the weekend off to play with my son,  can't wait.   I have the best job in the world.  It's fun to look back at weeks like this and think of all the fun that was packed into such a small window.

New material

I try and spend a bit of each day working on new performance material.  I try and work on existing material as well, but I get a thrill out of working on new challenges.   This week i only had 3 shows, which gave me ample time to work on new projects.  I worked on some juggling, a mind reading routine and a card trick.  Truthfully, I expect only the mind reading trick to ever be performed.   So why work on the other routines?  Well,  never know,  they may come in handy sometime.  A TV spot may be the perfect place for the card trick, and while setting up for a university show I may see someone juggling that would be impressed by a new 5 ball trick.   It's important to me to keep raising the bar.  In…

Oil Change

Today I got the oil changed in my car.   That is all...   Even top Corporate Entertainers need to have their vehicles maintained properly!

In Nashville

I'm in Nashville to perform a quick chainsaw juggling routine.  Specifically this trick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoJW-_OeFtw I've never been to Nashville before,  I visited the Grand Ole Opery House and ate a lot of good food.   I was expecting it to be warm here,  and only wore a small coat.  I think it's colder than Nova Scotia.  The locals are all saying it's the coldest they can remember.  Good thing I like cold... Home to work on new material soon...

Bob Saget

Last night I saw Bob Saget live.  Yep,  the dad from Full House.   His opening act was Lars Callieou,  he did an amazing job.  One of the best comedy openers I've seen in years.   Bob Saget was hilarious,  and jaw dropping.  This guy is off the wall.  Sharp as can be too.   Not the kind of act you take the kids to,  but one I'll remember the rest of my life.  It was great for the HubCap Comedy Festival to bring in such a huge name in comedy.  High five

Bad roads

Last night I performed a corporate show at The Nova Scotia Road Builders Association annual conference in Halifax.   I knew a lot of the people in attendance and it was fun to catch up with some folks I hadn't seen in years (a few I haven't seen since high school...).  The show was a ton of fun, and the group was full of energy (and possibly drinks...).   The thing that impressed me the most about this event was that it was held during a crazy bad snowstorm.  Everything in Halifax was shut down, except this event.  I mean even McDonalds was closed.   If I wouldn't have had 4 wheel drive I don't think I would have even made it.   When I arrived I asked how many people had come, expecting a small number.  I was shocked…
